More to go hungry if Stabenow deal not stopped

Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D., Mich.) is reportedly working out a deal to slash food stamps (SNAP) by another $8 billion.

Contrary to popular myth, charity giving will not fill the void. Less than 5 percent of food assistance in the U.S. comes from charity. Federal nutrition programs provide 23 times more food assistance.
