Sanders, Leahy & Bombing Syria

Both senators from Vermont are leaning toward voting against an attack on Syria, but have not committed.  Can they be in doubt on whether it would be a good idea for the U.S. military to attack Syria, fighting on the same side as Al Qaeda, and for the stated purpose of upholding "international norms"?

When did bombing other countries become an international norm?  Violating the U.N. Charter to seek vigilante justice by escalating an uncontrollable war, causing unknown death and suffering, is not what people have in mind when they think about elected officials representing the good will of the people of Vermont.
