Speaking at the State Department in early February, President Biden declared: “Diplomacy is back at the center of our foreign policy.”

But last week, during an interview with ABC News, Biden was the opposite of diplomatic -- saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “a killer” and does not have “a soul.”

What does that do to relations between two governments that have 90 percent of the world’s nuclear warheads?

Tell President Biden as well as your senators and representative that such name-calling is dangerous -- and what’s at stake in U.S.-Russian relations includes human survival on this planet.

Biden should make good on his pledge that diplomacy will be the centerpiece of U.S. policies toward the rest of the world. The existence of future generations and the fate of the earth may well hinge on whether he fulfills that pledge.

With irresponsible rhetoric, President Biden has opened up a very dangerous dynamic. Biden himself could be called a “killer,” given his support for the invasion of Iraq as well as the use of drones and other weaponry that has killed many thousands of people in numerous countries.

Reckless rhetoric does not belong in exchanges between presidents of nations with thousands of nuclear weapons pointed at each other.

Rather than jeopardizing our futures, President Biden has a responsibility to do what he can to prevent a nuclear war between the United States and Russia. To make that crystal clear, please take a minute now to send emails to the White House and your members of Congress.
