| Three months ago, a Kenosha, Wisconsin police officer shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back in front of his children. Mr. Blake was rushed to the hospital, where for days he was bizarrely shackled to his hospital bed, only to learn he’d been paralyzed from the waist down. The officer who crippled him, Rusten Sheskey, has yet to be charged with a crime, and is currently on paid administrative leave.
Since then, thousands of Kenoshans have taken to the streets to demand Justice for Jacob, and declare once again that Black Lives Matter. Now our #VoteTrumpOut campaign is teaming up with BLM leaders in Kenosha to turn that protest power into electoral power. In partnership with local racial justice leaders, our organizers on the ground have a plan to turn out 5,000 additional voters in Kenosha County.
The budget for this final Get-Out-The-Vote sprint is $10,000. Can you contribute $5, $25, or $50 to help get us there?
Our plan is to focus on those voters who cast a ballot in 2008 or 2012, but did not vote in 2016. That amounts to thousands of voters across Kenosha County. In 2016, Trump won Kenosha by 238 votes and the whole state of Wisconsin by just 23,000 votes -- which means we have a chance to flip it in 2020. As one of the swingiest counties in one of the swingiest states in the country, there couldn’t be a better place to put your donations.
For those who can, please contribute to help us partner with BLM to flip Kenosha County and Wisconsin against Trump!
This is about more than just votes. Ultimately, this is about standing up for Black Lives -- not only with the aim of ousting Trump, but of holding Joe Biden accountable to real racial justice reform once in office. Let’s #VoteTrumpOut of the White House, and then remind Joe exactly who put him in there.
