RootsAction: Connect. Act. Grow.
Just north of New York City, a stand-out candidate who would have a national impact, Mondaire Jones, is campaigning for the seat in Congress being vacated by Democrat Nita Lowey, who has held it since 1989. This is a rare opportunity to get a real progressive into Congress before someone less inspiring gets in and acquires the staying power of incumbency.

Jones needs all the help he can get in the Democratic primary now underway. Click here to support Mondaire Jones for Congress and the work of RootsAction.

Here are a few of the things Mondaire Jones is campaigning on:
  • Medicare for All
  • A Green New Deal
  • Paid family sick leave
  • Monthly checks of $2,000 to adults during the COVID-19 crisis
  • A moratorium on foreclosures and evictions
  • Forgiving student debt
  • A $15 minimum wage
  • Ending "right to work" laws
  • Tuition-free public college education
  • Funding public education
  • Overturning Citizens United and Buckley v Valeo
  • Demilitarizing police
  • Repealing the 1994 crime bill
  • Banning assault weapons
  • Repealing the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force
  • Ending current wars
  • Banning U.S. weapons sales to human rights violators
  • Moving money out of militarism
If we can get Mondaire Jones into Congress, he will make a difference in advancing this agenda.

Catherine Parker, a Westchester County legislator, has dropped out of this race to endorse Jones, saying, "I have heard Mr. Jones speak at several peaceful protests over the last number of days. His voice resonates with the pain of living systemic racism, but he unites us, and inspires us to be our best selves and stand with him as he continues to fight for social justice."
