|A high-impact new ad — featuring young voters in New Hampshire — began airing across the state Monday night on “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.” They’re responding to video of Joe Biden saying last year: “The younger generation now tells me how tough things are. Give me a break. No, no, I have no empathy for it. Give me a break.”
It’s a powerful ad. RootsAction is a project of Action for a Progressive Future, which is proud to have produced the ad. Now we need to raise enough money to keep it on the air in the state where the first-in-the-nation presidential primary is just three months away.
Click here to watch the 30-second spot. And if you agree that it’s important for New Hampshire voters to see, please make a contribution.
The ad features young adults in Durham, NH, watching and responding to Biden’s 2018 remarks.
“Does he know what it’s like to carry $40,000 in college debt and have a minimum wage job?” a young woman asks.
“If we want to beat Trump in 2020, we need a candidate who actually speaks to young people instead of insulting them,” adds another.
RootsAction is promoting this ad to convey a simple message — that Democrats would have a hard time defeating Trump with a candidate who belittles young voters and their very real struggles.
Poll after poll shows that people under 35 are more progressive and more anti-Trump than older voters. Biden’s dismissive attitude raises the specter of a re-run of the 2016 Democratic defeat, when so many young people did not vote or voted third-party.
Please donate what you can afford to support this ad -- and help more progressive candidates than Biden in the pivotal New Hampshire primary.
