The United States is a leader in many things, including the number of billionaires it has accumulated and, among wealthy countries, the percentage of its people and its children who are living in poverty. How much longer will we stand for this?
The United States ranks 111th out of 150 countries for income equality, according to the CIA, and 100th out of 158 according to the World Bank. In equitable distribution of wealth, the United States ranks 147th out of 152 countries, according to the reports collected on Wikipedia.
This Tax Day is the first since the Trump-led tax scam further exacerbated inequality. Working people are paying more than their fair share of taxes -- roughly half of those taxes going to wars and war preparations -- because the super wealthy and mega corporations are paying too little or even taking a completely free ride.
