We can't drink money. We can't breathe money. We can't grow healthy crops in money.
Yet we're behaving as if we believed such absurdities are possible.
Take a moment to support two environmental health bills in Congress.
- The Appalachian Communities Health Emergency (ACHE) Act (H.R. 5959) would put a moratorium on mountaintop-removal coal mining and its destruction of ecosystems and human health. This act would help people in some of our poorest regions who are suffering from birth defects, cancer, and chronic heart, lung, and kidney disease.
- The Fracturing Responsibility and Awareness of Chemicals (FRAC) Act (H.R. 1084, and S. 587) would repeal the Halliburton Loophole of 2005 that exempts gas drillers from the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Clean Water Act, and other safeguard laws. Until we close this loophole, we aren't allowed to even know what chemicals the corporate drillers are injecting into our water supplies, poisoning people and croplands in many states.
How can we continue these horrific practices, knowing that our grandchildren must live on this same land after we've poisoned it?
Tell Congress to stop the attack on the Earth now by passing these two common-sense, first-step measures.
Your voice is needed today when hundreds of anti-fracking activists are lobbying Congress in advance of Saturday's Stop the Frack Attack march and rally.
