While campaigning for the office of President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, according to the sworn testimony and the guilty plea of his attorney Michael Cohen, engaged in a criminal conspiracy to buy the silence of individuals, and did so with the intent of influencing the election and in violation of campaign finance laws.

This is a quintessentially impeachable offense with past precedents including the articles of impeachment that led to Richard Nixon's resignation. On December 9th, Congressman Jerrold Nadler told CNN that, if true, the charges were "impeachable offenses." On January 2nd, incoming Chair of the House Judiciary Committee Jerrold Nadler told CBS he wanted to "wait and see," holding out for "real evidence" before opening any impeachment hearings.

On August 21, 2018, President Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen admitted in federal court that he had paid Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal to silence them before the 2016 election at Donald J. Trump's "direction." Cohen said he acted "in coordination with and at the direction of a candidate for federal office" and "for the principal purpose of influencing the election."
This testimony, which has since led to Cohen's conviction and incarceration, implicates Donald J. Trump in the crime of conspiring to make an excessive and illegal campaign contribution. It also implicates him in the high crime and misdemeanor of attempting to fraudulently influence -- and quite possibly successfully influence -- the outcome of a U.S. presidential election. As President, he has lied about and tried to cover up his wrongdoing.
Congressman Nadler does not need to have it explained to him that "real evidence" already exists for this and numerous other articles of impeachment. He needs to have it explained to him that we the people of the United States demand immediate action. Click here now.
Not much, in fact none, of 2007 had passed before the Democratic "leadership" in Washington was routinely declaring it more important to think about the 2008 election than about impeaching Bush or Cheney and thereby holding future administrations to higher standards. (This set a bad precedent where any future president — no matter how corrupt or in blatant violation of the Constituion — was deemed beyond even an inquiry or investigation that might lead to impeachment.) Not much of 2019 will pass before another election will be used as an excuse to stifle democracy.
