Next week the U.S. Senate will vote to restore net neutrality . . . or not to. The Senate will either overturn the FCC's decision earlier this year to throw out net neutrality, or it will fail to do so.
We still have the ability to use the open internet to build the pressure that is needed. Please click here to email your Senators.
Please forward this email, share this on social media, and make every use of the internet you can. If we don't use it, we will lose it.
Earlier this year the FCC caved to AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast and threw out the net neutrality rules that protect a free and open internet, paving the way for ISPs to constrain what we see and do online. But that wasn’t the end of the story.
Thanks to a massive public outcry, including from RootsAction members like you, we rallied support in the Senate to use the Congressional Review Act to overturn the FCC and save net neutrality.
Now the Senate is using a discharge petition to go around Mitch McConnell and demand a vote of the full Senate next week on saving net neutrality. This is a huge, unprecedented move that shows what we can win when we get organized.
Now, we need to mobilize to win -- and we only need one more vote to guarantee victory. At last count, 50 Senators are ready to restore net neutrality. We need 51. (And we need to make sure of holding on to the 50 we've got.)
Sign the petition: Tell the Senate to overturn the FCC and save net neutrality.
Thanks to the support of Senator Susan Collins of Maine and the entire Democratic caucus, we have 50 Senators in support of overturning the FCC and saving net neutrality.
Under the Congressional Review Act, we only need 51 votes. There’s no filibuster here.
The big telecom and cable companies are spooked. They are mobilizing their army of lobbyists on Capitol Hill to stop us.
Meanwhile, small businesses across America are fired up and stand with us. They know net neutrality is essential to their ability to stay in business against the big corporations. And millions of people across America know that their ability to make use of the internet depends on net neutrality being restored.
This is one of the most consequential votes Congress has taken on net neutrality and internet freedom in years. And we can win this vote. We only need one more Senator!
That’s where you come in. 86% of Americans support net neutrality. We need to make sure Senators hear that message loud and clear.
This is urgent. Sign the petition: Tell the Senate to overturn the FCC and save net neutrality.
