Last December Donald Trump was given enormous media attention for claiming to have saved 1,100 jobs from elimination at a Carrier Corp. factory in Indiana and promising more to come.
Chuck Jones, the head of the labor union at Carrier, United Steelworkers Local 1999, called Trump a liar. Trump then insulted Jones on Twitter.
Most U.S. corporate news consumers have heard that story. Some have heard that Jones gave Trump credit for saving the jobs in the end.
Jones said that 370 jobs were being cut. Much less attention has been given to the fact that those 370 jobs are now being cut. Jones was right. Trump was wrong.
Trump won media attention for a lie and bullied a working person on Twitter.
Jones had the difficult task of telling people who believed Trump's claim that in fact they were losing their jobs.
Click here to tell Trump that he owes Chuck Jones and the rest of us an apology, and to demand serious action on behalf of workers.
