“President-elect Trump” sounds horrific. “President Trump” even worse.
There’s something we can do about it.
Trump and his allies are eager for the public to forget that he lost the popular vote -- at last count, by more than 1.4 million votes -- and the gap continues to widen.
Now, please join in a nationwide RootsAction campaign that’s launching today: Instead of “President-elect Trump” or “President Trump,” let’s call him “Popular-Vote Loser Trump.”
If you agree, click here.
Of course some pundits and politicians will say we’re being disrespectful or worse. But “Popular-Vote Loser” is a statement of objective fact -- one that should not be forgotten.
News media and Republican boosters are routinely saying -- tacitly or explicitly -- that Trump won the most support from voters. But he did not.
When we write a letter to the editor, or call into a radio talk show, or write about Trump on social media, it would be a public service to call him Popular-Vote Loser Trump.
All kinds of false claims have spread via social media and other avenues of the Internet. But this is a truth that deserves spreading. You can help make it happen -- now. Let’s resolve not to legitimize the presidency of someone who didn’t get the most votes.
After you sign, please spread the word. Actually, a few words: Popular-Vote Loser Trump.
Sure sounds a lot better than President-elect Trump or President Trump.
After signing the petition, please use the tools on the next webpage to share it with your friends.
