A global historic petition is now launching in support of whistleblower Edward Snowden’s right to receive a major award in Oslo, Norway.
It’s not safe for Snowden to make the trip from Russia -- because the U.S government is eager to imprison him for the “crime” of informing us about the NSA’s illegal Big Brother surveillance programs.

The ceremony to award the Norwegian PEN's Ossietzky Prize to Snowden -- for outstanding achievements as a whistleblower -- is five months away. That gives us time to organize a huge international campaign on this issue. Starting now.
Right now, two brave drone whistleblowers who formerly worked for the U.S. Air Force, Lisa Ling and Cian Westmoreland, are in Norway to participate in the launch of this petition. They know full well how difficult -- and how morally essential -- it is for whistleblowers to take risks for peace, democracy and the public’s right to know.
Eighty years ago, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the German pacifist Carl von Ossietzky for having the courage to expose Germany’s rearmament program. But Hitler did not allow Ossietzky to go to Oslo for the award ceremony. Instead, it featured an empty chair.
Must there again be an empty chair in Oslo, this time where Edward Snowden should sit?
