Actions Everywhere on Thursday, July 24, to End the Assault on Gaza and Lift the Blockade

Please join with peace groups everywhere in this urgent call to stop the Israeli offensive in Gaza and to end the seven-year siege that has made life in Gaza so miserable.

We encourage organizations and individuals to hold actions and events in communities this Thursday, July 24.

While many people voiced revulsion at the mass killing in Gaza, the U.S. Congress cheered it on -- with unanimous votes.

Click here to tell your senators and representative that Israel's hugely disproportionate killing in Gaza deserves condemnation, not praise.

On July 11, the House passed -- by voice vote with no objections -- H Res 657, expressing "United States support for the State of Israel as it defends itself against unprovoked rocket attacks."

On July 17, also by voice vote without objection, the Senate passed the nearly identical S Res 498.

The sad truth is that your senators and representative went along with those disgraceful votes. You can respond now by clicking here.

By the time the Senate voted, the violence had killed one Israeli and more than 200 Palestinians.

Congress condemned the inexcusable Hamas rocket attacks but refused to voice the slightest criticism of the Israeli government for dropping thousands of tons of bombs on people in Gaza.

Tell members of Congress that you want a single standard of response when civilians are slaughtered.

Israel -- armed at U.S. expense and emboldened by U.S. support -- has been attacking people trapped in Gaza, a densely populated strip of land between Israel and the sea.

In Gaza, the Israeli military has killed hundreds, wounded thousands, and bombed hospitals, schools, media outlets, children, the injured and the elderly.

Yesterday, the New York Times put the death count at 550 Palestinians (most of them civilians), 25 Israeli soldiers and two Israeli civilians. Each of those deaths is a senseless tragedy. They will continue to mount unless Israel’s enablers take a different course.

Click here to tell Congress and the President to cease supplying weapons to Israel and to stop providing the Israeli government with immunity from legal consequences for its actions.
