The Connecticut legislature has sent to Governor Dannel Malloy a bill that would create a commission to develop a plan for conversion from military industries to civilian and environmentally sustainable manufacturing.1
Thank the legislature and encourage the Governor to sign!
State Bill 619 could become a model for the other 49 states, demonstrating the economic advantages of a peace economy.
The bill, which passed on a bipartisan 121-15 vote, includes a provision for representatives from labor, environmental, and peace organizations to hold seats on the commission.
This legislation has had the support of the City of New Haven Peace Commission, the U.S. Peace Council, No Nukes No War, the CT AFL-CIO, and the International Association of Machinists.
Take Action: tell the Governor to sign!
