Join our partners at National Nurses United: Demand Healthcare, not Warfare!
We have a real opportunity to push peace and healthcare in Congress now. RootsAction is joining our friends at the Healthcare Not Warfare campaign to put the pressure on Democratic Senators to pass key legislation: to aggressively drawdown troops from Afghanistan in July and to institute Medicare for all.
Will you sign and share this letter to Congress?
National Nurses United and its allies—including RootsAction—are rallying and lobbying in Washington, D.C for the June 7 Rally and Lobby Day with the Nurses.
If either of your Senators is a Democrat*, you can help the effort even more if you call your Senator on Tuesday, June 7.
Call the congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Ask for your Senator's office, then ask to leave a message for the Senator.
The message is:
- You support the DNC Afghanistan Withdrawal Resolution, and you want the Senator to support amendments to the Defense Authorization Act that will begin a significant drawdown of troops beginning in July 2011.
- You support Medicare for all, and you want the Senator to support the American Health Security Act of 2011 (S.915), to ensure that all Americans have access to comprehensive health coverage, and which will also drastically reduce the cost of healthcare in the US.
* Not sure who your Senators are? No Problem: look up Democratic Senators here.
